Alaska Peninsula Wildlife Refuge

The Alaska Peninsula National refugs was setup in 1980 to conserve wildlife. The refuge contains active volcanos and sustained humans for 10,000 years.

The Alaska Peninsula National Wildlife Refuge is a United States National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Alaska whose use is regulated as an ecological-protection measure. It stretches along the southern coast of the Alaska Peninsula, between the Becharof National Wildlife Refuge on its east and the end of the peninsula at False Pass in the west. In between, however, it is broken into sections by lands of the Aniakchak National Monument and Izembek National Wildlife Refuge.

Mount McKinley

Mt Mckinley is a towering, snow and ice-clad mountain. surrounded by five large glaciers. It is located in the centre of the Alaska Mountain Range.

Mount McKinley has a larger bulk and rise than Mount Everest. Even though the summit of Everest is about 9,000 feet higher as measured from sea level, its base sits on the Tibetan Plateau at about 17,000 feet, giving it a real vertical rise of a little more than 12,000 feet (3,700 m). The base of Mount McKinley is roughly a 2,000-foot plateau, giving it an actual rise of 18,000 feet.

Glacier Bay National Park

Situated on the Gulf of Alaska the park is an icey wonderland of snow covered mountains and striking glaciers.

Most of the park is a designated wilderness area which covers 4,164 mi² of the park.

Visualization of Glacier Bay, based on Landsat imagery and USGS elevation dataNo roads lead to the park and it is most easily reached by air travel. During some summers there are ferries to the small community of Gustavus or directly to the marina at Bartlett Cove. Despite the lack of roads, there are over 300,000 visitors per year, most on cruise ships.[
